At the end of world war 2 most of the Jewish prisoners were held by the United States in some of the vary camps they were held captive in. The only difference was that they ate more food, treated better and got better clothing. Some prisoners had to use the uniforms of the SS officers that guarded them. Jews that could go to surviving homes were often treated harshly by Nazi neighbors. They weren't treated as equals by the people they used to live next to. The generals that governed the modified concentration camps were having trouble governing the towns they were running low on food and medical supplies. They asked for more from the government and instead they put them in small towns governed by officials to help them get back to normal.
